Description: On September 8, 2014 Child Care Aware® of America hosted a Congressional briefing titled: “Reauthorizing the Child Care and Development Block Grant: the Need for Quality Child Care,” in Washington, DC. The briefing brought together panelists from across the country to talk about child care in America and their professional and personal experiences with the system. On our panel is Celia Sims, VP of Government Relations at Knowledge Universe, the largest private early childhood education provider in the US; Vicky Dougherty, a state family network leader from Pennsylvania; Dr. Walter Gilliam, Director of the Edward Zigler Center in Child Development and Social Policy at Yale University; and Ann McCully, Executive Director of Child Care Aware of Minnesota, one of the many child care resource and referral agencies across the country.
