Non-Traditional Care Providers

The Non-Traditional Care Program provides child care for members of the United States National Guard and Reserve during weekend drill trainings. Care is provided in quality centers and family child care homes, dependent on branch guidance.

Pilot states for the United States Army National Guard include:

  • New Mexico
  • New Hampshire
  • Virginia
  • Massachusetts
  • Washington
  • Ohio

Pilot states for the United States Army Reserves include:

  • California
  • Florida
  • New York
  • Texas

Eligibility Requirements

  • State licensed family child care home
  • FBI background checks and Child Abuse and Neglect Checks for all individuals over the age of 18 in the facility
  • Child care liability insurance of at least $500,000
  • Current Certification in first aid and infant/child CPR
  • Availability from 6am- 6pm on Saturday and Sunday during military drill weekend

Supporting Documents Needed

  • NTC Provider Application
  • State child care license
  • Proof of $500,000 liability insurance
  • Proof of current first aid and infant/child CPR certification
  • A copy of your most recent state licensing inspection
  • Completed W9 and EIN certificate, if applicable
  • FBI background checks and Child Abuse and Neglect Checks for all individuals over the age of 18 in the facility
