The federal shutdown is putting children and families in jeopardy. Due to Congressional inaction, 140 Head Start programs serving 65,152 children no longer have access to federal funds. Families are left without the early learning, nutrition, and stability they depend on.
Children shouldn’t pay the price for inaction.

Head Start gives children a strong foundation and parents the support they need to work and thrive.
But the ongoing shutdown puts all of that at risk. As of November 1, 140 Head Start programs in 41 states plus Puerto Rico lost funding — leaving 65,000 children with the possibility of losing safe and affordable child care.
